The Growlers Join Cold War Kids, Rainbow Kitten Surprise as Co-Headliners

DENVER — The Growlers have been added to Velorama Festival’s music lineup on Saturday, August 18, 2018 as co-headliners, joining Cold War Kids and Rainbow Kitten Surprise for an evening of alternative rock, organizers of the festival announced today.

The Growlers are adding Denver to their international “Beach Goth Tour 2018”, and will close out Saturday night’s show at Velorama after an afternoon of music that also includes Lo Moon and Colorado native Brent Cowles.

Since the release of their first LP,   Are You In or Out? in 2009, The Gro wlers have forged their own twisted path on the global music scene. They're the party band that grew into a traveling circus of psychedelia that spawned their own event, “Beach Goth.”  Lead singer Brooks Nielsen draws a particular devotion among Growlers fans, as does chief cohort Matt Taylor, The Growlers' music director and chief guitarist. Their most recent LP was 2016's City Club, produced by Julian Casablancas, which saw them expand their palette to include West African, dance, and electronic influences.

The band is currently in the studio with Jonathan Rado (Foxygen) and Shawn Everett (The War On Drugs) and preparing for their Beach Goth World Tour 2018.

The Velorama Festival (August 17-19) is located at 27th and Blake Streets in the RiNo Art District. More than a music festival, Velorama is a three-day celebration of the bike with experiential cycling events; the start/finish of the second annual Colorado Classic pro bicycle race on Saturday and Sunday; amateur criterium races; the Velorama Rhythm Rumble pump track race and demonstrations; an interactive bike expo with test tracks for road and e-bikes; craft beer from independent RiNo producers; and 25 of Denver's best food trucks.
